Job Description: Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical & Environmental Sciences Consultants has an immediate opening for a Sr. Staff Geotechnical Engineer in San Diego, California. The candidate will be responsible for the following duties: conducting geotechnical investigations and analysis, performing boring layout for utility clearance, supervising drill rigs, classifying soils, logging borings, test pits, and cores, performing floor level surveys, performing testing and observation services, reviewing plans and specifications, and preparing geotechnical reports and letters. Additionally, the Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for assignment and compilation of laboratory testing and geotechnical calculations, including calculations pertaining to slope stability analysis, liquefaction, dynamic settlement, and pile design. Education: B.S. / B.A. in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering; M.S. preferred. Required Skills: The successful candidate should have 2+ years of experience (will consider entry-level for staff level), preferably with a geotechnical consulting firm performing duties described above. Candidate should have a thorough understanding and knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering or engineering geology. Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic.
