Iowa Orthopedic Center is actively seeking an
Physician Assistant interested in pursuing the
Interventional Pain Management sub-specialty. Our physician assistants are vital members of our Iowa Ortho care team. This position will provide the best care possible to all patients in a clinical setting a. As a PA, you will provide health care services with direction and supervision by an Orthopedic Physician including performing diagnostic, therapeutic preventive, general orthopedic health related services in any setting in which the Physician renders care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Work in the clinic independently, connecting with patients formulating a plan of care, educating patients, while also performing some injection procedures.
- Performs history and physical examinations on patients as directed by Physician, establishing the diagnosis, ordering of appropriate laboratory and other ancillary testing services and records findings.
- Reviews patients' records.
- Administers injections, including but not limited to, visco supplementation. Suture wounds and wound care.
- Make complete chart entries on all patient transactions following CPT and ICD-9 coding guidelines as established by the AMA on the same day patient is seen.
- Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances following State of Iowa legal guidelines and recording same in patient record.
- Provide counseling and instruction and education to patients.
- Assist physician by dictating patient progress notes, discharge summaries, etc. as directed by Physician.
- Triages patient phone calls, provides consultation and follows up as necessary and documents all conversations for the patient's chart on the same day as call was received.
- Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Assist in setting up OR room, positioning of patients. Assist with surgical procedure and postoperative care as directed by Physician
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role has: - Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Experience with Orthopedics preference
