Position Summary


The Opportunity: The Multimedia and Digital Content Specialist is a key member of the communication and marketing team and works in collaboration with the executive director (ED) to establish and enhance the college's digital brand and visual standards. This position's primary role is the production and execution of multimedia and digital materials in support of SVC's mission, guiding principles, core themes, and strategic goals. This includes but is not limited to marketing materials for college events, promotions, and programs; digital advertising; website creative content and copy; social media; photography; video production; motion graphics; and other projects as determined by the ED. This position reports to the Executive Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications and is responsible for maintaining a consistent brand across all units of the college, in addition to other responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Produce digital and multimedia promotional materials and graphics in support of the college mission and strategic priorities;
  • Photograph and film college events, activities, and student and staff portraits;
  • Produce motion graphics for use in video productions;
  • Produce and edit videos that combine photos, videos, and motion graphics;
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategic social media and digital marketing strategies and campaigns aligned to the college's strategic marketing and communications plan, including appropriate channel selection and social promotion of content;
  • Coordinate and perform design work, including theme development, story boarding, editing, photo selection, design, and proofing. Act as liaison between relevant stakeholders;
  • Work with Senior Graphic Designer to build and maintain a template library in compliance with brand standards and current trends (presentations, digital display advertising, social media graphics and advertising, website assets, logo creation and design, and some print collateral);
  • Work individually and as part of a team to produce creative brand compliant digital assets such as: email campaigns, digital sign and display content, interactive forms, banner ads, social media graphics, and online marketing materials;
  • Organize, update, and maintain all college digital assets;
  • Fulfill departmental needs, including workflow management, supply and equipment inventory and maintenance;
  • Serve as an SVC brand ambassador, ensuring all assets comply with brand guidelines;
  • Provide creative brand compliance recommendations on projects and events;
  • Develop and implement procedures to assure accuracy of all published materials, including spelling and grammar;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge or understanding of:
  • Advertising, collateral, brand identity, and interactive design;
  • New digital trends and social technologies and to forecast and identify trends and challenges in the digital space;
  • AP Style;
  • Scheduling, planning, and project management processes;
  • Typographic and type trends;
  • Branding experience and familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production, video editing, and motion graphics.

Skill in:
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign);
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint;
  • Advanced proficiency in video and motion graphic production using the Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Final Cut, Lightroom, After Effects, Spark and others);
  • Excellent proofreading and editing;
  • Converting images and files for cross-platform use (print to responsive images);
  • Photographing events and portraits;
  • Using DSLR cameras for photography and video production;
  • Producing, directing, and editing promotional videos.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in graphic design, multimedia, digital media, communications, marketing, or a closely related field or equivalent experience;
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated and professional experience in a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Content writing/editing experience (digital advertising and scripts/storyboards);
  • Recognized expertise in advertising, interactive design, and/or brand identity;
  • Previous experience in higher education, especially at a community college.

Salary, Benefits, Conditions of Employment, Application Procedure


Salary and Benefits:
  • Annual salary rate for this twelve-month, 100% of full-time position is $68,000.00 depending on experience;
  • Contracts are written annually for the period of July 1 to June 30. This position will be filled as soon practical after a candidate is identified and the salary will be pro-rated for the remaining contract period.
  • This position is exempt from civil service. This position is eligible for overtime.
