We're seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mortgage Underwriter to join our team! In this fully remote role, you'll play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of residential mortgage loan applications. You will review a variety of documents, including income, asset, and collateral paperwork, to determine loan eligibility. Whether you're reviewing Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, or Non-QM loans, your expertise will help guide borrowers toward the best financial solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review and Analyze Mortgage Applications: Evaluate residential mortgage loan requests and make decisions on approval or denial based on thorough review of financial documents, including credit reports, income verification, and appraisals.
- Validate Key Information: Verify borrower's income, assets, and collateral, ensuring the accuracy of all relevant details in the mortgage application.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure mortgage loans meet investor standards and comply with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines.
- Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with internal teams (lenders, coordinators, processors) to communicate loan decisions and ensure clarity on conditions.
- Maintain High Standards: Ensure all loan documentation meets established industry standards, state and federal regulations, and disclosure requirements.
- Record and Document: Document all loan decisions, including the reasons for approval or denial, to maintain a well-organized loan file.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as needed to support the team and ensure smooth operations.

What You'll Need:
- Experience: At least 5 years of recent experience in mortgage underwriting (FHA, VA, USDA, and Conventional), with a solid understanding of agency guidelines.
- Certifications (Preferred): DE, SAR, and LAPP certifications are a plus.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Encompass LOS, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and strong computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of Compliance: Familiarity with ATR/QM requirements, as well as closing, post-closing, and quality control responsibilities.
- Work Ethic: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while meeting production standards, and a strong commitment to integrity and professionalism.
- Preferred: Applicants located in EST time zone and available during EST business hours.
