Job Description

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment organization, is currently seeking a Latin Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year at an independent school in New York, NY.

Essential Duties:

• Teach multiple sections of Latin at each grade level
• Assume a share of supervisory responsibilities expected of all faculty members
• Collaborate with departmental colleagues on curriculum design and development
• Provide updates to parents about student progress, via both written reports and in-person conferences
• Make use of technological resources, including the school’s online learning management site for classes
• Hold students accountable for standards of behavior
• Work with others in the school community to support each student’s emotional well-being

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Latin or Classics
• At least three years of teaching experience in Latin
• Ability to teach the full range of middle school or high school Latin courses
• Experience and comfort with student-centered pedagogy and the integration of technology
• A reflective practitioner, committed to a continuous process of self-improvement, innovation and lifelong learning
• Ability to collaborate with others and to creatively solve problems
