Position: Driver

Reports to: Transportation Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Drivers are the front line in customer interaction. Being on–time, polite and securely moving our customer’s mail is a priority for this position. Need to safely drive and transport customer material to specific locations, protect the customer’s mail and the company’s property. Perform initial mail sort for presorted, stamped, flats and for other mail processing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Good driving habits, following the posted signs and driving safely
• Timely completion of assigned route
• Protect the integrity of the mail in in climate weather (sleeves / cover / etc.)
• Customer service skills in interacting with customers.
• Perform initial sort based on stamped, presorted, and mail to be processed for customer.
• Complete sort of the mail at the dock – presort / metered / stamped from route
• Fill company vehicle with gas and other fluids. Assist in maintaining operation.
• Notify Transportation Supervisor of any vehicle issues, accidents, citations, issues with customer
• Dressed appropriately – company shirt and respectable pants or finished shorts and close toed shoes
• Ensure customer has trays / tubs and required mailing materials.
• Look for improvements in pick-up times / routes
• Use hand truck when needed.
• Notify Transportation Supervisor if maintenance needed on vehicle

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid driver’s license
• Good driving record
• Good communication skills
• Ability to carry 25lbs.
• Timeliness / Attendance
• Keep company shirts cleaned / maintained
• Problem solving skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• This position is in a vehicle/warehouse environment
• Standard & specialized office equipment is used (such as computers, phones, copier, mail machine, folder inserter, printers, sorters, etc.) as well as tool use (screw driver, clamps, drills, pliers, wrenches, etc)
• Mix of physical and sedentary position
• This position would require some lifting/carrying (up to 25lbs)
• Filing, bending, standing, reaching with hands/arms, using tools, etc. as necessary
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to speak and hear

TRAVEL:

• This position requires daily local travel.
